Victoria Catt
BABCP-accredited CBT Psychotherapist, Psychiatric Nurse, and University Lecturer offering evidence-based therapy for children, young people, and adults.
I am a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist with experience working with people across the lifespan who are struggling with depression, anxiety, panic, OCD, trauma, low self-esteem, and confidence difficulties. I work flexibly with adults, teenagers, and younger children, offering individual therapy as well as work with couples and families where appropriate.
I aim to offer a supportive, collaborative, and practical therapeutic space, helping clients and families understand difficulties clearly and develop tools that support meaningful change.
How I work
My work is grounded in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), adapted carefully to suit each individual’s needs, age, and circumstances. I work in a structured yet compassionate way, tailoring interventions to be accessible and effective, particularly where difficulties feel overwhelming or complex.
I have specialist experience in working with individuals who have additional needs, including autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, and Down’s syndrome. This includes careful observation, behaviour support planning, and adapting therapy for young people who may find it difficult to engage in traditional talking therapy.
I also bring specialist expertise in trauma-focused CBT, having delivered therapy for emergency service personnel, military staff, and individuals affected by homicide.

Professional background & experience
Alongside my clinical work, I am a University Lecturer and trainer in the assessment and treatment of child and adolescent mental health difficulties, OCD, PTSD, self-harm, and clinical supervision.
I also work with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), clinically assessing international nurses to ensure professional standards within UK practice.
While professional knowledge is essential, my work is also shaped by lived experience — both my own experiences of mental health challenges and my role as a parent to two children with additional needs. Having sat “in the other chair” myself, I understand how isolating mental health struggles can feel, and how powerful CBT can be in finding a way forward.
