Emanuela Gollin

Child and Adolescent Psychotherapeutic Counsellor offering compassionate, integrative support for children, teenagers, and families.

I am a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, trained at the Faculty of Education, University of Cambridge. Over the years, I have had the privilege of working with children and young people in primary and secondary schools, as well as within charitable organisations.

I support children, teenagers, and families navigating emotional distress, anxiety, bullying, family challenges, and trauma. My work is particularly informed by an understanding of how anxiety can sit at the heart of many emotional and behavioural difficulties.

Supporting children and teenagers

If you are a parent worried about your child or teenager, I offer a warm, caring, and confidential space where young people can feel safe to explore their worries and emotional experiences.

My integrative approach blends talking therapy with creative and expressive tools such as:

  • Art and drawing

  • Clay and sand-tray work

  • Music and creative expression

These approaches can be especially helpful for children who find it difficult to put feelings into words.

For older adolescents, I often integrate Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) with talking therapy and psycho-education, offering practical and empowering tools alongside emotional support.

How we work together

Therapy is always shaped around your child’s individual needs and pace.

  • Tailored sessions: Each session is carefully adapted to create a calm, supportive environment where emotions can be explored safely.

  • Flexible length: Some families find change within a few months, while others benefit from longer-term support. We move at a pace that feels right for you.

  • Parent involvement: Where appropriate, I invite parents to join brief review conversations to support shared understanding and next steps.

  • Open-ended commitment: There is no fixed end date — sessions continue for as long as they feel helpful.

Getting started

Taking the first step can feel daunting, so I offer a free 20-minute Zoom consultation. This is a relaxed, no-obligation conversation where we can discuss your concerns, answer questions, and see whether working together feels like a good fit.

If we decide to proceed, therapy begins with two assessment sessions:

  1. Initial assessment (parents/carers only):
An opportunity to explore concerns, background, and therapy goals.

  2. Joint assessment (parents and child/teen):
A collaborative session to deepen understanding and agree a shared direction for the work.

These sessions help build trust, clarify needs, and ensure support is carefully matched to your child.
