Rose McDonald

Rose McDonald

Therapeutic Counsellor and CBT Practitioner offering warm, integrative support for adults navigating anxiety, life transitions, and emotional challenges.

Welcome — I’m Rose. Taking the first step towards therapy can feel daunting, but you don’t have to do it alone. I offer a warm, down-to-earth space where you can pause, breathe, and begin to make sense of whatever you’re going through.

My aim is to create a therapeutic relationship where you feel safe, supported, and understood, allowing you to explore difficulties with compassion and care.

How I work

I work integratively, with a foundation in person-centred counselling, where you are recognised as the expert in your own life. I walk alongside you with curiosity, warmth, and respect, shaping sessions around your needs and what feels most helpful for you.

Alongside this, I draw on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for more focused, short-term work where appropriate, particularly when working with specific difficulties such as anxiety, stress, or low mood.

Areas I support

  • Anxiety, stress, depression, and low mood

  • Menopause and perimenopause transition

  • Bereavement, grief, and loss (including miscarriage)

  • Recovery from abuse

  • Work-related stress and burnout

  • Relationship breakdown and interpersonal difficulties

  • Confidence, self-esteem, and performance anxiety

  • Carer support

Who I work with

  • Adults of all ages (from late teens through to post-retirement)

Professional background & experience

Before training as a counsellor, I spent over thirty-five years working in the hospitality sector, where I witnessed the impact of workplace stress, anxiety, and pressure first-hand. This experience continues to inform my work, particularly when supporting people navigating work-related challenges and life transitions.

I have a particular passion for supporting women through the menopause transition, helping clients navigate anxiety, low mood, changes in identity, and sleep difficulties during this stage of life.
